Miguel Antonio Abascal Jr.

Executive Director of Operations

Miguel grew up speaking Spanish, as his parents fled Cuba in 1964. A passionate surfer and former college baseball player, he earned graduate degrees in Semitics and Education from Biola University and holds both teaching and administrative credentials. For the past 30 years, Miguel has worked in cross-cultural public education and ministry. He has been married for 28 years, and together they are proud parents of seven daughters and one son. In 2013, they returned to the U.S. after establishing new ministries in Central America and the Asia Pacific.

"The mission and vision of At Promise are closely tied to our family's journey. After moving to the U.S. in 2013, we faced challenges together, which shaped our approach to college and career preparation. This experience taught us resilience, and now our children are thriving in college and their careers. Over the last decade, our five oldest children have secured more than $1,000,000 in scholarships."
