Our Mission
At Promise is a nonprofit organization established under federal and California state laws. Our mission is to equip high school students, especially those from underserved backgrounds, with the resources, guidance, and support needed to effectively navigate the college and career planning process.
We are dedicated to empowering youth in economically disadvantaged areas by providing comprehensive college and career readiness programs that promote both academic and professional success, as well as lifelong achievements. Our goal is to bridge the gap for under-resourced youth, helping them overcome significant barriers to higher education and career opportunities through equitable measures, strong support systems, and access to options that might otherwise be out of reach.
What We Do:
We support McKinney-Vento, foster youth, disabled & low income high school students by guiding them through comprehensive college applications aimed at securing full, or nearly full, four-year scholarships. We assist with applications to 28 California institutions, including 4 UC schools, 4 Cal State universities, and 20 through the Common App. This process requires approximately 100 hours per student!
Once college acceptance decisions are in, we help negotiate offers to meet each student’s unique needs, leading to a collaborative final decision for a four-year commitment. Our mission goes beyond earning a degree; we ensure 4 years of stable housing, daily meals, on-campus employment, and life and career mentoring through At Promise.
We are dedicated to building lasting relationships with these young adults, helping them overcome barriers and providing a strong foundation for their futures. This is true equity, and we do it all in חֶסֶד.
Thank you for supporting our mission—your impact is invaluable!
